I’m coming to practice, I promise. I’m going to work on those drills when I get home, I promise. I’ll do my homework after I finish this game, I promise. I’ll fill up with gas in the morning, I promise. The list can go one and on, but the reality is that a promise carries a big responsibility; A commitment to follow through. Sometimes we make promises with no desire or ability to keep them.

While we may not not always keep our promises, God always does. One of the coolest things that I’m always reminded of when reading the Bible is that God always keeps his promises. There is not a single thing that God said he would do that he didn’t do or won’t do. God keeps his promises.

And at Christmas time we are reminded of his best promise. The promise of a savior. Jesus wasn’t a backup plan that came to fruition when we messed up, he was the plan to save the world. When we read scripture we see in God promised to send a savior from the beginning. He knew that we would need saving and that Jesus would have to come to the earth. The prophets talked about Jesus and provide details of his birth and God fulfilled his promise by sending Jesus exactly as he said he would. And this is what I want to remind us of this Christmas. His keeps his promises. Jesus came and was born just as God promised and we can put our trust in him knowing that he will do everything he said he would. God promised to save us and when we put our trust in Jesus God does exactly that: He saves us! May we put our trust in Him today.

As always if you have any questions about your faith I would love to talk to you about them.

-Coach Nick.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
